Our Farms

Purchased in 1958, Barracks Farm in Fetcham was our original farm. Since then, we have expanded and now operate four farms across the local area; Baracks Farm, Lady Place Farm, Polesden Lacey, Hatchlands, and Chapel Farm. Totalling around 1800 acres.

We rear approximately 500 cattle, 1000 sheep, 2000 turkeys, and 23 pigs, with the majority of our meat sold through our two shops in East Horsley. Alongside our livestock, we grow a variety of produce including wheat, barley, and maize on our farms. These crops are used primarily to feed our own animals.

We also harvest up to 750,000 litres of rain water a year, and generate energy from solar panel installation. Much of our farming enterprise is covered by the National England Countryside Stewardship Scheme, aiming to improve the environmental value of farmland throughout England.

Our heritage is in pigs and cattle, with turkeys introduced over sixty years ago by Neil Conisbee. Quickly the farm concentrated on rearing just cattle and turkeys, with the addition of sheep soon after. As the farm has continued to expand, we have recently reintroduced pigs back onto the farm.

Pigs

Half a century ago, the farm was home to a herd of Large White / Saddleback Cross pigs. Today, we have a selection of traditional breeds and crosses, including Saddleback / Large Whites, Large Whites, and a couple of Durocs. We're proud to be carrying on the farm's pig-keeping heritage with a successful herd of 23 pigs.

Our pigs are reared on a sustainable diet that includes spent grains from the Surrey Hills Brewery, giving another use to a local by-product while producing exceptional pork. The result is delicious, high-quality “Drunken Pork” that will be used for our signature beer-cured smoked bacon, ham and sausages, all produced locally and packed with flavour.

Turkeys

Every year we raise over 2,000 turkeys for Thanksgiving and the Christmas season. We get the chicks in as early as May, giving them plenty of time to mature so they are ready to sell for Christmas.

They are available from both of our East Horsley shops, and during the festive season we also open a temporary Christmas shop at Barracks Farm in Fetcham.

Cattle

We mainly rear Sussex Limousin cross cattle, combining the best qualities of both breeds. Sussex are renowned for being excellent mothers, thriving on a grass-based diet, and producing consistently high-quality beef. We also rear Wagyu and Hereford cattle, each prized for their exceptional flavour, marbling, and premium meat quality.

Sheep

We lamb two flocks; one in winter for spring lamb and the other in April. Our lambs are finished naturally on grass, grazing the picturesque Polesden Lacey Estate, part of the Surrey Hills. Some are kept on for longer and finished as hoggits over the winter, grazing on stubble turnips.
